Members visit Pima Air and Space Museum

Special thanks to our 4 Modelers’ Club members who shared their expertise regarding the airplanes at the Pima Air & Space Museum. Fred Faust gave us the insiders tour of the planes in hangars one and two. Dan Cain was on hand to talk about his beautiful restoration effort of the PBM-3 and point out many interesting features of the plane itself. Len Tranter walked us through the 390th Memorial Hangar and an up close view of the B-17G ‘Flying Fortress’ named “I’ll Be Around,” housed in their hangar amidst the thousands of photographs and pieces of memorabilia. Bruce DeWald chauffeured a capacity crowd on the 3:00 PM tram tour of outdoor aircraft displayed on the grounds of the museum giving a brief description of a hundred or more planes. Their combined talents made for a very memorable day for club members. The weather cooperated marvelously with a brisk sunny day and the food at the cafeteria was excellent.
